Internet Governance Forum (IGF) Hyderabad, India, 3-6 December 2008 ‘How to take your Internet Further’ Report from the result of the Workshop #51, Wednesday December 3, 16.00. Introduction ISOC-ECC held a workshop on 3 December at the third United Nation conference on Internet Governance Forum (IGF) in Hyderabad India. The topic was How to take your Internet further. It was a joint workshop with Latin America, said Christopher Wilkinson who has organized the workshop. ISOC headquarters staff also expressed their support. It was very successful and all presenters made good presentations with participants' involvement during the Question and Answer session. The workshop had been organised and financed in cooperation between several ISOC-ECC Chapters and ISOC Headquarters. Particular thanks go to ISOC-Ecuador for joining the project together with ISOC-HQ support.
Results of the workshop: - Chapters build a relation with the authorities. This pays off when policy and legislations questions are actual for a country.
It is important to have a multi stakeholder participation when you work with the interest in the future so all important questions and aspects come into the play - that four chapters presented their experience of how Internet has developed in their respective countries.
That ISOC is an multi stakeholder organisation with a big 'hugh' and every one fits in. Internet is for all!! We shared our visions for the future and gave references to www-links for more material and e-mail contacts. We urged the people attending to contact their local chapters. If they don't have one, it takes only 25 people and bylaws to start the process to form a chapter.
